Many products are available to assist older adults and improve their safety in the home and community. 

Safety equipment may include: handrails, grab bars, shower chairs or benches, hand held showers, raised toilet seats and "reachers" to pick up or reach for objects. A physician may even recommend a cane or walker to provide stability while walking. 

Knowing more about the assistive technologies available and where to find them helps everyone feel more secure, as it protects the independence of our community’s older adults.  Many items are covered by insurance through medical equipment suppliers with a doctor’s prescription.
