Senior centers are community focal points for older adults and important resources on aging for entire communities. At senior centers, older adults can receive services, participate in social activities, and get involved with their communities.
Senior centers reflect the uniqueness of individual communities. While the services offered may vary by community, most senior centers offer a combination of the following services:
According to the U.S. Administration on Aging, there are approximately 15,000 senior centers in the United States serving about 10 million older adults each year. Senior centers may be supported by local governments, non-profit organizations, the United Way or other charitable organizations.
