Help Available to Become a Better Caregiver Print E-mail

Individuals providing care for a family member or friend who has memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease can sign up for the free Creating Confident Caregivers Program. Sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging 1-B and the Alzheimer’s Association, the workshop will give you information about dementia and tools to make caregiving easier and more rewarding. You will learn strategies to:

  • Reduce caregiver stress
  • Improve caregiver confidence
  • Respond to behaviors caused by dementia
  • Plan daily activities for your loved one based on their strengths
  • Create a positive caregiving environment

Caregivers who have attended the workshop have gained knowledge and self-assurance:

“I had no understanding of the stages of the disease before participating in the workshop. This program has helped me have more confidence in the way I interact.” – Previous workshop attendee

The six-week workshop meets once a week for two hours and offers free care for your family member with dementia while you attend the workshop. Select the workshop location closest to you and register by contacting the Area Agency on Aging 1-B at (800) 852-7795.
