Home-delivered meals are offered to homebound seniors who are unable to adequately prepare their own meals. Available to any individual who meets program eligibility requirements and is 60 or older, meals are delivered Monday through Friday by a volunteer. To find a home-delivered meal provider in your area, click here to access the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging online Home-Delivered Meals provider locator.

Congregate meals are available for seniors who are 60 and older and their spouse regardless of age. Congregate meals usually are held in community settings such as a senior center or church. Congregate meal programs have many benefits other than nutrition – they help seniors get out, socialize, and even provide opportunities for volunteering. Congregate meal programs are a great way to combat loneliness and make new friends. To find a congregate meal program in your area, click here to access the Michigan Office of Services to the Aging online congregate meal locator.

While neither the home-delivered meals nor congregate meals programs are emergency food programs, many Southeast Michigan communities have food banks for immediate food needs. To find emergency food reserves, call 211, a statewide information resource provided by United Way. You can also visit http://www.211.org/.
